Great stick for a middie/defender. Less aggressive bow for hitting and more upright play.
The Mercian Evolution 1 Girdle is an upgrade for me and I can definitely tell the difference between my older board shorts and these. I can move easily without feeling restricted and I am very much protected when blocking and sliding. The Velcro in the front of the girdle is bulky and took a little while to get used to that.The included overshorts are like thin basketball shorts and don’t do a great job protecting the outside foam when sliding. I would recommend wearing shorts made specifically for sliding instead. Overall, I’m very happy with the comfort, protection, and feel of the girdle.
Pads and kickers lighter than OBO, padded pants style and fit give me more flexibility, elbow pads give more arm movement range, chest plate fits well, hand guards feeling more comfortable with each use. I am feeling more comfortable each time I wear this new kit!
After my daughter’s previous leg guards failed due to foam separation issues, we purchased the Mercian Evolution Pro GK Set because they are heat-bonded rather than glued. That technology gave us confidence that they would be more durable and last longer.
It took her a few sessions to adjust to them, but she now says they are comfortable and easier to move in. She feels much more confident with the upgraded protection and has noticed that the rebounds are significantly better.
The strap connecting the leg guards and kickers keeps everything secure, so she no longer has to stop and adjust them during play. They arrived quickly, and Savage communicated well about the separate shipments. We are very happy with this purchase!

Fits well, solid protection, easy to adjust, stays in place. Ordered this and used this abdominal guard (aka jock/cup) just recently. Highly recommend this as standard gear for GKs. Will see how many season(s) it lasts but looks well made and is comfortable.
