About Savage Field Hockey
'Savage' - a name synonymous with field hockey - from 1961 to 1981 Austin Savage was a key goalkeeper for both Great Britain and Wales and represented the UK in the 1972 Munich Olympics. Austin gained 101 caps for Wales, and was the first Welsh player to gain 100 caps!
More recently Gwyn and Huw Savage have been associated with the Under 21 and Schoolboy teams in Wales. Both have played National League hockey in England, for Wakefield and Whitchurch respectively.
Huw Savage is a regional USFHA Futures head coach. Gwyn has been coaching for numerous years and was an assistant coach for the Welsh U14 boys team and is now an active coach and official in the Midwest.
Gwyn Savage established 'Savage Field Hockey' as a distributor of field hockey equipment for hockey clubs, sports retail outlets and field hockey players.
